Well, I don't know quite what I have gotten myself into but I have made it my goal to run a 1/2 marathon this April. Ugh! Yes, a group of friends and I (mostly teachers) have signed up, booked flights and hotel reservations and are trying our darnedest to train in this terrible weather.
Somehow, it is not the same running on a treadmill while staring at FOX news blaring on the gym TV. I need to run somewhere and then have to run to get home or to my car. Otherwise, what is the point?
I have been told that while running your should be able to carry on a conversation with your running partner. This is often times difficult if not impossible! However, it usually happens that while one of us catches our breath the other one holds the conversation.
When thinking about taking on this monumental task a few things came to mind as the reasons to say yes to such a ludicrous plan:
1. It will hopefully lead to weight loss. (I mean, why else would anyone run)
2. You kill two birds with one stone! (Spend much needed time with friends while exercising)
3. Swimsuit season, swimsuit season. (No explanation needed!)
So, the plan is to run a 10K by St. Patty's day and a 1/2 marathon on April 23rd.
